Meet Prof. Dr. Tzou

Assoc.-Prof. Priv.-Doz. Dr. Chieh-Han John Tzou was trained at the Medical University of Vienna, Austria (MUV) and at the Chang Gung Medical University Taipei-Linkou, Taiwan. He was a visitor at the Asan Medical Center, Seoul, South Korea, Medical University of Tokyo, Japan and Georgetown University, Washington D.C., USA. He is specialist in Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery (PRS) and his research focus is in facial palsy, lymphedema and the peripheral nerve. In 2016 the Medical University of Vienna, Austria (MUV) granted him the teaching qualification (venia docendi, Priv.-Doz., Habilitation) for plastic and reconstructive surgery and in 2017, the qualification for Associate Professor. In 2019 he was appointed Associate Professor by the Medical Faculty of the Sigmund Freud University Vienna, Austria (SFU). He is the co-director of the biennial course ‘Facial Palsy: A hands-on Course’ and the annual ‘Long Night of Lymphology - Viennese Lymphology Symposium’ in Vienna, Austria. He has been invited to numerous international conferences; moreover as a mentor and teacher he has trained plastic reconstructive surgeons, medical students and medical nurses in several institutions worldwide.

Education

Prof. Dr. Tzou was born in Taipei, Taiwan, grew up in Vienna, Austria and spent considerable time living in the United States.
